Infrastructure Migration

Migrate VMs, storage, and networking from one provider to another — with zero-drama cutover, rollback, and post-migration optimization.

Overview

Infrastructure migration is risky. A botched cutover means downtime, data loss, and angry customers. Most migrations fail not because of the technology but because of poor planning — incomplete dependency mapping, untested rollback, no cutover runbook, and no post-migration monitoring. The result is a 2am fire drill that nobody enjoys.

CB4UHost migrates infrastructure the boring way: detailed planning, dry-run rehearsals, tested rollback, and post-migration monitoring. We've migrated VMs, storage, and networking across AWS, GCP, Azure, OVHcloud, Hetzner, on-prem, and back. We know the gotchas — and we plan around them.

We're vendor-neutral on both ends. We'll migrate you from AWS to GCP, from on-prem to cloud, from cloud to dedicated, or from one VPS provider to another. The right destination depends on your workload — we'll recommend if you haven't decided.

Every migration ends with a post-mortem, optimization recommendations, and a 30-day monitoring window to catch any issues that surface after cutover.

What's included

Dependency mapping

Complete map of VM-to-VM, VM-to-storage, and VM-to-network dependencies — no surprises during cutover.

Migration plan + runbook

Step-by-step cutover runbook with timestamps, owners, and rollback triggers.

Dry-run rehearsal

We rehearse the cutover in a staging environment to catch issues before the real thing.

Cutover execution

We execute the cutover (often over a weekend) with on-call support and tested rollback.

Post-migration monitoring

30-day monitoring window to catch latency, error rate, or cost anomalies.

Optimization recommendations

Right-sizing, reserved capacity, and architecture recommendations for the new environment.

How we work

1

Discovery + mapping

We inventory your infrastructure and map all dependencies.

2

Plan + dry-run

We build the cutover plan, rehearse it in staging, and refine.

3

Cutover

We execute the cutover with on-call support and tested rollback.

4

Stabilization

We monitor for 30 days and fix any issues that surface.

5

Optimization

We right-size the new environment and make architecture recommendations.

FAQ

How much downtime should we expect?

For VM migrations with proper planning: 0-30 minutes of downtime during cutover. For storage-heavy migrations: 1-4 hours. We'll give you a specific estimate after discovery.

What if the migration fails?

We test rollback before cutover and have a rollback runbook ready. If anything goes wrong, we roll back to the original state within the agreed rollback window (typically 30-60 minutes).

Can you migrate while we're live (zero downtime)?

Sometimes — it depends on the workload. Stateful databases can be migrated with replication + cutover (seconds of downtime). Stateless web tiers can be migrated with blue-green deployment (zero downtime). We'll tell you what's possible after discovery.

Do you handle the destination provider selection too?

Yes, if you haven't decided. We'll recommend based on your workload — see our Hosting Comparison and TCO Analysis services.
